This is a beautiful vintage mid-century Chinese tabletop jewelry chest, styled after a traditional altar cabinet. Crafted from a rich, warm red-toned hardwood (likely rosewood or teak), the chest features elegant everted flanges on the top surface, traditional hand-carved bracket accents, and classic heart-shaped brass drawer pulls.
Interior & Functionality:
The interior houses a beautiful five-compartment storage layout:
- Two small, independent drawers at the top.
- Three larger, tiered drawers lined with vibrant, original blue silk brocade fabric featuring woven floral and bamboo motifs.
- The lower drawers include built-in dividers, making it an excellent organizer for rings, necklaces, and delicate valuables.
Condition Note:
This piece is missing its original drop-front vertical cover panel. The exposed front reveals the beautiful tiered inner drawers perfectly, making it highly functional as an open-shelving jewelry display piece, or an excellent candidate for a restoration project.
