Description
Silver-Plated Vintage Fork
- Pattern Name: Sovereign
- Manufacturer: Wm. Rogers Mfg Co / International Silver
- Introduction Year: 1939
- Discontinued: Mid 1940s - due to WWII. During the war years (1941-45), the U.S. government placed strict restrictions on non-essential manufacturing to conserve resources for the war effort. Base materials were heavily rationed and diverted to military equipment.
- Design Features: It showcases clean, Art Deco-inspired vertical ridges along the handle that culminate in a delicate floral cluster emblem at the base tip.
- Material: This flatware is made from silverplate, which means a thin layer of pure silver is electroplated over a base metal.
- Care: hand washing with mild, non-citrus dish soap is highly recommended to protect the plating. Avoid harsh, acid-based automatic dishwasher detergents that can wear down the silver layer over time.
- Polishing: Use a soft microfiber cloth and a dedicated cream silver polish to gently remove tarnish and bring back its original glossy shine.
