The artwork features a detailed, vintage-style illustration of the fern Asplenium monanthemum, a specimen historically documented as native to the Cape of Good Hope. The piece features a sophisticated, multi-layered presentation, including a textured purple-metallic inner mat border and a wide outer grey mat, all housed within an ornately detailed, traditional gold-finished frame.
The reverse side retains its original Ethan Allen Home Collection label, heavy-duty D-ring hardware, and a pre-installed steel hanging wire. It also features a historical text plate detailing the botanical background of the specimen, including colonial cultivation notes, references to pioneering botanists Linnaeus and Sir J. Smith, and a classical poetry excerpt.
