The Best Vintage Finds to Look for This Summer

The Best Vintage Finds to Look for This Summer

Summer is one of my favorite seasons for vintage shopping. Estate sales, yard sales, moving sales, and flea markets are in full swing, which means more opportunities to uncover unique treasures before someone else snatches them up. After years of sourcing vintage for my booths and online shop, I've noticed that certain pieces consistently stand out during the summer months.

Whether you're decorating your home, refreshing a patio, or simply looking for something special, these are some of the best vintage finds to keep an eye out for this summer!

Wicker and Rattan Decor

If there's one category I always keep an eye out for during summer sourcing trips, it's wicker and rattan. These natural materials instantly make a space feel warm, relaxed, and inviting. They're also incredibly versatile, working beautifully in coastal, cottagecore, boho, traditional, and even modern homes.

Vintage baskets, trays, magazine holders, shelving, plant stands, and decorative accents are all excellent finds. Not only do they add texture to a room, but they're functional as well. Many shoppers are looking for easy ways to make their homes feel lighter and more seasonal, and wicker pieces effortlessly accomplish just that.

Vintage Garden Decor

Summer naturally draws people outdoors, making vintage garden decor especially desirable this time of year. Decorative planters, concrete garden statues, wrought iron plant stands, lanterns, watering cans, and outdoor accessories can instantly elevate a porch, patio, or garden.

Many of these pieces were built to last and often have far more character than their modern counterparts. I frequently see shoppers looking for unique outdoor accents that help create a collected, lived-in look rather than a mass-produced one.

One of my favorite things about vintage garden decor is how easily it adds personality to an outdoor space. A weathered watering can, an old iron plant stand, or a charming garden statue can make a patio feel like it's been thoughtfully curated over time. These pieces don't need to be perfect to be beautiful. In fact, a little age and patina often add to their charm.

When I'm out sourcing during the summer months, I always take a second look at garden items. They may be tucked away in a corner of an estate sale or sitting outside at a yard sale, but they're often some of the most unique finds of the day. As more people spend time entertaining outdoors, vintage garden decor remains a simple way to create a welcoming space filled with character and charm.

Colorful Vintage Glassware

One of the most overlooked categories in vintage shopping is glassware. While many people walk right past shelves of vintage glasses, experienced collectors know that certain colors, patterns, and makers can be highly sought after.

I once purchased a set of vintage colored glasses at a yard sale from a homeowner who was downsizing before moving into a nursing home. They were simply trying to clear out their house and considered the glasses ordinary junk. However, I could immediately tell they were vintage and on the more valuable end. After doing some research, I discovered the set was worth nearly $100. Once I placed them in my booth, they sold almost immediately!

Blue glass continues to be incredibly popular, while amber glass remains a timeless favorite that never seems to go out of style. Both colors add warmth, personality, and a touch of nostalgia to summer entertaining.

Vintage Barware for Summer Entertaining

Summer is the season for backyard gatherings, barbecues, pool parties, and evenings spent with friends and family. That's why vintage barware is always worth keeping an eye out for while sourcing.

Look for cocktail glasses, decanters, ice buckets, serving trays, pitchers, bar tools, and unique drinkware sets. These pieces add instant character to entertaining spaces and often feature craftsmanship, colors, and design details that can be difficult to find in newer items. Even a single vintage piece can make a bar cart or beverage station feel more interesting and thoughtfully styled.

I especially love finding colorful glassware and unique serving pieces because they're both beautiful and functional. Vintage barware isn't just for cocktails either. Many people use vintage pitchers for lemonade, iced tea, or infused water during summer gatherings. These pieces help turn everyday entertaining into something that feels a little more special.

Many shoppers enjoy incorporating vintage barware into modern homes because it creates a collected look that feels both stylish and personal. Whether you're hosting a large backyard gathering or simply enjoying a drink on the patio, vintage barware adds charm, conversation pieces, and a touch of nostalgia that never seems to go out of style.

Coastal-Inspired Vintage Decor

It's no surprise that coastal decor becomes especially popular during the summer months. Vintage pieces help create a relaxed atmosphere without requiring a complete redesign of your home. There is something about warm weather that naturally makes people want their homes to feel lighter, brighter, and more relaxed. Vintage coastal pieces are a wonderful way to achieve that look without requiring a complete redesign of your home. A few thoughtfully selected items can instantly create a breezy, laid-back atmosphere that feels perfect for the season.

When shopping vintage, keep an eye out for nautical artwork, sailboat decor, brass maritime accents, shell-themed pieces, driftwood accessories, vintage seascapes, and coastal-inspired pottery. These pieces can be mixed into your existing decor to add a subtle touch of seaside charm without making your space feel overly themed. Even a small vignette featuring a vintage seascape, a brass sailboat, and a few natural textures can completely change the feel of a room.

One of the reasons I love vintage coastal decor is that it often feels more authentic than many modern reproductions. Older pieces tend to have beautiful patina, unique details, and a sense of history that helps create a collected look. Whether you live near the coast or simply want to bring a little bit of that relaxed summer feeling into your home, vintage coastal finds are an easy way to add character, warmth, and timeless charm.

Marble and Onyx Decor

Marble and onyx decor have become increasingly popular in recent years, and for good reason! These natural stone pieces add elegance, texture, and visual interest to any space while still feeling timeless. Whether styled on a coffee table, bookshelf, mantel, or entryway table, stone decor has a way of making a room feel a little more polished and thoughtfully curated.

Vintage onyx eggs, decorative animals, bookends, boxes, trays, and small sculptural pieces are some of my favorite items to source. They work beautifully with both traditional and modern interiors and often have a versatility that allows them to blend seamlessly into a variety of decorating styles. I especially love mixing stone pieces with warmer materials like wood, brass, and rattan to create contrast and depth.

One of the things that makes marble and onyx so appealing is that no two pieces are exactly alike. The natural variations in color, veining, and patterns make every item feel unique and special. From rich earth tones to soft creams, greens, and browns, these stones bring an organic element into a home that never seems to go out of style. It's one of the reasons shoppers are continually drawn to vintage stone decor year after year.

Books and Artwork

Some of the best vintage finds are also among the most affordable. Vintage books and artwork can completely transform a shelf, coffee table, or gallery wall without requiring a large investment.

I often look for gardening books, botanical books, coastal-themed titles, and beautiful coffee table books that can be used both for reading and decorating. Framed artwork, landscapes, florals, and vintage prints also remain popular because they add personality and character to a home.

Unlike mass-produced decor, vintage books and artwork tell a story and help create a space that feels collected over time.

Don't Overlook Vintage Clothing

While much of my sourcing focuses on home decor, summer is also an excellent time to shop for vintage clothing and accessories. Lightweight dresses, linen pieces, straw bags, and unique accessories are often overlooked at estate sales and yard sales.

Many people focus only on furniture and decor, leaving behind vintage fashion treasures that can be both wearable and collectible.

The Bottom Line

One of the reasons I love vintage shopping is that you never know what you'll find. The best summer vintage treasures are often hiding in plain sight, waiting for someone to recognize their value.

After years of sourcing, the items I consistently look for each summer are wicker and rattan pieces, garden decor, colorful glassware, vintage barware, coastal accents, marble and onyx decor, books, artwork, and vintage clothing. These are the pieces that not only reflect current design trends but also bring personality, history, and character into a home.

The next time you're browsing an estate sale, yard sale, or antique mall, keep an eye out for these summer favorites. You just might discover a hidden treasure that becomes your favorite find of the season!
