It's laid on with a knife in places — the hulls, the light on the water, the little flares of orange on the mooring buoys — so the surface has real relief and catches whatever light is in the room. Up close it breaks into slabs and streaks of color; step back and it snaps into a harbor. That is a hard trick, and whoever painted this could do it. \u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eBlue-grey and white throughout, with just enough rust and ochre in the buildings to keep it warm. It's a calm picture, and it suits a room that gets used — a bedroom, a study, a hallway you pass every day. \u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eSigned lower left, R. Casimiro.
