Our dear Midtown customer, Alvin Prasad, was the victim of a hate crime after Halloween. He, his daughter and a friend were walking to their cars after an evening of dancing when he was assaulted with a punch to the forehead. He fell back and hit his head on the concrete. He has since been in the hospital, in a coma. There is little hope he will wake up and if he does, he will have permanent brain damage. Alvin was one month away from his retirement from his county office position with a dream of moving to Palm Springs. Alvin has been a Midtown Bliss shopper since we opened our doors. His friendly nature, positive attitude and fashion sense always brought a smile to our faces. Over the years, he's become more than a customer, he's become our friend. We are deeply saddened that someone would commit a violent act against him as Alvin truly has a heart of gold. We are collecting donations on his behalf. Every cent collected by Bliss will be given to his daughter to cover medical costs and Alvin's mortgage while he rests.
